Cat Kimbriel
Science Fiction, Fantasy and a hint of Romance -- Stories about people you’ll care about.

In the beginning Katharine Eliska Kimbriel was nominated for the Campbell Award for Best New SF/Fantasy Writer. Her work has long straddled the line “too literary to be commercial, too commercial to be literary.” Katharine just wants to tell great stories.

Published novels currently available include the e-books Fire Sanctuary, Fires of Nuala, and Hidden Fires, stand-alone SF tales that take place on the same planet. These were previously released by Warner Books in mass market format. On the fantasy side, her novels include the historical dark fantasies Night Calls and Kindred Rites, originally from HarperCollins/HarperPrism. They feature Alfreda Golden-tongue, who is also the protagonist of short works "Night Calls," "Triad" and "Ducks."

Managed by a Burmese cat and a handful of gargoyles, Katharine's occasional hobbies have included ballroom dancing, brewing beer, antique roses, beading, Xeriscaping, making Ukrainian Easter eggs, and practicing on her Celtic harp Real Soon Now. She has been a macrobiotic practitioner for several years, but confesses to a weakness for high quality gluten-free chocolate in infinitesimally small doses.

Katharine is a member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, and is a founding member of Book View Cafe.
